Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has made a significant statement about his party’s political strength, acknowledging that Janasena still has a long way to go before it can match the organisational power of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Pawan Kalyan admitted that Janasena has its own strength and dedicated cadre, but it cannot yet compete with a decades-old party like TDP, which has a well-established grassroots network across Andhra Pradesh. He indicated that Janasena would need considerable time to build a similar level of political influence and organisational strength.
Janasena Cadre Disappointed Over Seat Allocation
Pawan Kalyan’s remarks come at a time when several Janasena leaders are reportedly unhappy with the allocation of seats for the upcoming local body elections. The distribution of seats among alliance partners has emerged as a challenging issue, with leaders from different parties having their own expectations.
Acknowledging the difficulties involved, Pawan credited Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for handling the seat-sharing process. His comments suggest that the party leadership is prioritising the stability of the NDA alliance over individual political ambitions.
Pawan Kalyan Reaffirms TDP-Janasena-BJP Alliance Unity
Despite the differences over seat allocation, Pawan Kalyan made it clear that the TDP-Janasena-BJP alliance would remain united in the larger interest of Andhra Pradesh’s development.
He explained that the challenges faced during the 2024 general elections were different from those involved in local body polls. While seat-sharing during the general elections was limited to specific constituencies, local body elections require coordination across a much larger number of seats.
According to Pawan, managing such a vast electoral arrangement is undoubtedly difficult. However, he stressed that the alliance partners must work together to achieve their common objectives and focus on the state’s progress.
Development to Be NDA’s Main Election Agenda
Pawan Kalyan also highlighted development-related issues as a key focus for the upcoming local body elections. He pointed out that a large number of nominations had been filed, indicating the scale of the electoral exercise.
The Janasena chief’s latest remarks underline the challenge before his party: strengthening its organisational presence at the grassroots level while maintaining its partnership with TDP and BJP.
Pawan Kalyan Issues Strong Warning to YS Jagan
Apart from discussing alliance politics, Pawan Kalyan also launched a sharp attack on YSR Congress Party chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Pawan warned that NDA leaders would respond with ten times greater strength if Jagan attempted to demonstrate his political power. He asserted that the alliance leaders would not be intimidated by threats.
Taking a dig at Jagan’s approach, Pawan remarked that only weak people resort to threatening language, while strong leaders do not behave that way.
Can Janasena Build Its Own Political Power?
Pawan Kalyan’s comments highlight the balancing act facing Janasena in Andhra Pradesh politics. While the party has established its own support base, matching TDP’s extensive grassroots network will require sustained organisational growth and political groundwork.
For now, Pawan appears committed to strengthening the NDA alliance while gradually expanding Janasena’s independent political presence. The upcoming local body elections will be an important test of how effectively the party can consolidate its cadre and influence across the state.
