Nagarjuna’s iconic romantic classic Geethanjali is all set to return to theatres, bringing its timeless romance and evergreen music back to the big screen. The 1989 film has now been enhanced to 4K quality and is gearing up for a grand re-release.
Directed by Mani Ratnam, Geethanjali holds a special place in Telugu cinema as his only direct Telugu film. Even decades after its original release, the film continues to be remembered for its emotional storytelling, beautiful visuals and unforgettable romance between Nagarjuna and Girija.
The film’s music by Ilaiyaraaja remains one of its biggest strengths, with several songs achieving cult status over the years. Nagarjuna and Girija’s performances and chemistry have also remained memorable for generations of Telugu movie lovers.
Now, the makers are bringing the enhanced version to theatres for both longtime fans and Gen-Z audiences to experience the magic on the big screen. Geethanjali will be re-released on November 13 in 4K, with Shree Padmini Cinemas releasing the film in both Telugu and Tamil.
Nagarjuna has previously regarded Geethanjali as one of the Top 5 films of his career and expressed pride in being part of a timeless classic directed by the legendary Mani Ratnam.
