Taapsee Pannu’s Rs 5 Lakh Debut in Telugu Film Jhummandi Naadam Shocks Fans

Taapsee Pannu, now a big name in Bollywood, recently revealed her humble beginning in Telugu cinema. She shared that she earned only Rs 5 lakh for her debut film Jhummandi Naadam, which released in 2010. Veteran filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao directed the movie, which completed shooting in about 35 to 40 days. The film featured Manchu Manoj in the lead role. Although the movie failed at the box office, it gave Taapsee a strong entry into the film industry. Her revelation surprised many fans, especially when they look at how far she has come today.

Taapsee Pannu’s Start in South Indian Cinema

After acting in Jhummandi Naadam, Taapsee signed several Telugu films. She gained early fame when she starred with Prabhas in Mr. Perfect. Her role in Sahasam with Gopichand received a positive response, and her performance in Ghazi, a critically acclaimed war film, strengthened her image as a versatile actress.

However, one scene in her debut film, where someone threw a coconut at her midriff, sparked controversy years later. Taapsee pointed to it as an example of how some South films portrayed sensuality. When some people misunderstood her comments, she quickly clarified that she didn’t intend to insult Raghavendra Rao but only wanted to share her real experience as a newcomer.

Taapsee’s Rise in Bollywood After Telugu Debut

Taapsee gradually shifted her focus to Hindi cinema and delivered many strong performances. She impressed audiences and critics with films like Pink, Badla, and Thappad. She also proved her box office power with big hits like Mission Mangal and Dunki, which earned over Rs 400 crore worldwide. Even after finding major success in Bollywood, she returned to Telugu cinema with Mishan Impossible in 2025. She openly thanked the Telugu film industry for giving her the first break in her career.

Personal Life and New Beginnings

Taapsee was born in Delhi into a Sikh family. She studied computer science engineering and started her professional journey as a model. In March 2024, she married Mathias Boe, a Danish badminton player, in a private ceremony. She now juggles acting and film production, and continues to work in both Bollywood and South Indian cinema with full dedication.
