D Suresh Babu recently stated that it is debatable whether Prabhas is the biggest star in the country. The Suresh Productions supremo said, “We don’t know whether Prabhas is the biggest star (based on his BO numbers). He didn’t have anything major between ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. I don’t want to pin-point and say, ‘He is the biggest’. Likewise, the debate about who among Rajinikanth, Ajith and Vijay is the biggest (Tamil) star will go on.”
Stating that Pawan Kalyan, Prabhas and Allu Arjun can generate phenomenal openinings in Telugu, Suresh Babu suggested that those whose films make it big consistently outside their home markets would have to be adjudged the biggest in due course of time.
Suresh Babu expressed uncertainty about Prabhas’s position as the top star in the country in unambiguous terms. He pointed out that Prabhas didn’t have any significant blockbusters between the blockbuster ‘Baahubali’ duology and the recent Nag Ashwin directorial. In 2023, ‘Salaar’ underperformed in the Hindi territory. And that’s entirely because of the ‘Dunki’ factor.
