Sugali Preethi Case Takes New Turn: Complaint Against Pawan Kalyan Sparks Political Storm

By TeluguFunda / July 7, 2026

The Sugali Preethi case, once a symbol of the fight for justice in Andhra Pradesh, has taken an unexpected turn. A police complaint filed against Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan by the victim’s mother has triggered intense political debate and strong reactions from Janasena supporters.

Pawan Kalyan Was One of the Strongest Voices for Justice

When the Sugali Preethi rape and murder case shook Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan emerged as one of the most vocal leaders demanding justice. During the previous YSRCP government, he repeatedly raised the issue at public meetings and questioned the pace of the investigation.

His persistent campaign kept the case in the public spotlight for years, making it one of the state’s most discussed criminal cases.

Pressure Led to Government Support

Following sustained public and political pressure, the then state government extended financial assistance to Sugali Preethi’s family and also allotted a parcel of land as compensation.

Many Janasena supporters believe these benefits were possible largely because of the pressure created by Pawan Kalyan’s continuous protests and public campaign.

Mother Files Complaint Against Pawan Kalyan

In a dramatic development, Sugali Preethi’s mother, Parvati, has now filed a police complaint against Pawan Kalyan.

Speaking to the media, she alleged that the Jana Sena chief had assured her of justice but failed to fulfill that promise after coming to power. She also expressed disappointment over his recent statement that key evidence and records related to the case had allegedly been erased during the previous government, making further investigation difficult.

According to her, the assurances given during the opposition years have not translated into concrete action after Pawan Kalyan became Deputy Chief Minister.

Pawan Kalyan’s Stand on the Investigation

Recently, Pawan Kalyan stated that crucial evidence connected to the Sugali Preethi case was allegedly destroyed or erased during the previous administration. He suggested that the absence of key evidence has made it extremely challenging for investigating agencies to proceed effectively.

His remarks have sparked fresh political discussions over the handling of the case and the possibility of delivering justice.

Janasena Supporters React Strongly

The complaint against Pawan Kalyan has disappointed many Janasena supporters. Several party sympathizers argue that Kalyan consistently stood by the victim’s family when few others raised the issue and helped bring statewide attention to the case.

Some supporters have also expressed the view on social media that the issue is now becoming more political than a fight for justice, though these remain opinions expressed by sections of the party’s supporters.

Political Debate Intensifies

With the victim’s family questioning Pawan Kalyan and the Deputy Chief Minister maintaining that the investigation has been severely impacted due to missing evidence, the Sugali Preethi case has once again become a major political talking point in Andhra Pradesh.

As the controversy grows, all eyes are on whether the latest complaint will lead to fresh legal developments or further intensify the political battle surrounding one of the state’s most sensitive cases.
