Varanasi, one of the most ambitious and high-budget projects currently in Indian cinema, is headlined by Mahesh Babu and directed by ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The globetrotting spectacle was officially announced with a release target set for 2027.

Recently, speculation began circulating on social media suggesting that the film had been postponed and would not meet its planned release timeline. Addressing these rumours, the makers have firmly dismissed the claims. To clear the air, they shared a clip from the film’s announcement teaser, reiterating that the project is progressing smoothly and that there has been no change in its release schedule.

Varanasi is locked for a grand theatrical release on April 9, 2027, a date that was first reported by us. The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Prakash Raj, and several others in pivotal roles. Reportedly mounted on a massive budget exceeding Rs. 1300 crore, the film promises a never-before-seen cinematic experience.

Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravaani is scoring the music, while the film is being produced by KL Narayana along with SS Karthikeya. With the makers putting all speculation to rest, expectations around Varanasi continue to soar.
