SS Rajamouli Hails Sandeep Reddy Vanga as ‘RGV ka Baap’

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has managed to make a thunderous mark in Indian cinema with just three films. From his bold and unconventional debut Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Deverakonda to his massive Bollywood hits Kabir Singh and Animal, Sandeep has established himself as one of the most daring and distinctive filmmakers of this generation.

Known for his unapologetic attitude and raw storytelling, Sandeep’s off-screen persona irreverent, confident, and outspoken has often drawn comparisons to maverick director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV). Like RGV, he doesn’t hold back when speaking his mind during interviews, and this fearlessness has earned him both admirers and critics in equal measure. Interestingly, even RGV himself has publicly expressed admiration for Sandeep’s conviction and filmmaking style.

However, the biggest compliment for Sandeep came from none other than SS Rajamouli, India’s most celebrated filmmaker. During a film event, Rajamouli reportedly said that directors like Sandeep and RGV are “once-in-a-blue-moon” talents who redefine cinematic expression. Later, after the release of Animal, Rajamouli went a step further calling Sandeep “RGV ka Baap” (the father of RGV).

This revelation came to light during a recent roundtable discussion featuring Nagarjuna, RGV, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, organized as part of the promotions for Shiva 4K. According to RGV, Rajamouli was deeply impressed by Sandeep’s audacious approach to storytelling especially his ability to challenge conventions and push boundaries in character design and emotional depth.

The remark highlights the kind of influence Sandeep has already built within the industry earning the admiration of stalwarts like Rajamouli and RGV with only three films to his name.

Up next, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is set to collaborate with Prabhas for a high-octane cop drama titled Spirit. With expectations sky-high, fans are eager to see how the filmmaker who’s being hailed as “RGV ka Baap” will redefine intensity once again on the big screen.
