SJ Suryah Returns as Director with ‘Killer’, a Bold Pan-India Romantic Action Comedy

Director-turned-actor SJ Suryah is making a powerful return to direction after 10 years with his new film Killer. He is directing his 10th feature after a long break since Isai (2015). The team has already started shooting the film in Chennai. The buzz is high as Suryah launches this as a pan-India movie in five languages, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

Suryah’s Dream Project Finally Takes Flight

SJ Suryah wrote the script for Killer during the COVID-19 lockdown. He says the calm and quiet atmosphere helped him focus and come up with something truly fresh. The story follows a hitman, but he clearly states that it’s not a dark or psycho thriller. Instead, he blends action, romance, and comedy, calling it a mix of James Bond and his own hit Kushi. He confidently adds, “It may sound like mixing water and oil, but my screenplay will hold it all together.”

Strong Production Team Behind the Film

SJ Suryah is co-producing Killer through Angel Studios along with Sree Gokulam Movies, a well-known Malayalam production company. Sree Gokulam Movies is stepping into Tamil film production for the first time as a solo producer. They earlier co-produced Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj, and distributed several Tamil films like Thug Life in Kerala.

VC Praveen and Baiju Gopalan have also joined the team as co-producers, giving the project even more support and strength.

Filming in India and Mexico

The team will shoot most scenes in India, and they also plan to film key portions in Mexico. SJ Suryah will not only direct the movie but also play the lead role and write the screenplay and dialogues. While the team hasn’t revealed the full cast and crew yet, fans are already excited about what’s coming.

SJ Suryah began his directing career with Vaalee in 1999. He went on to direct popular films like Kushi, New, Naani, and Anbe Aaruyire. As an actor, he last appeared in Veera Dheera Sooran. His upcoming films include Love Insurance Kompany, Sardar 2, and Indian 3.
