Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi continues to draw attention with each new update, and the latest reveal has taken excitement to a new level. The makers unveiled the first look of Kannada superstar Shivaraj Kumar as Gournaidu, a crucial character in the film. They released the poster today on Shivaraj Kumar’s birthday, giving fans a powerful first glimpse of his intense and regal role in this rustic action drama.
Shivaraj Kumar’s Powerful Transformation as Gournaidu
Popularly known as the “Karunada Chakravarthy,” Shivaraj Kumar commands attention in his role as Gournaidu, a man who holds significant power and influence in the story. With a serious expression, a thick handlebar moustache, earrings, and the attire of a village elder, he looks both majestic and fierce. This film also marks his first time speaking Telugu in a movie, making it extra special for him and his fans. His striking appearance has already generated strong buzz and stands out as one of the film’s major highlights.
Ram Charan Returns with a Rural Action Drama
Director Buchi Babu Sana, known for Uppena, helms Peddi, a village action drama with a sports theme, set in 1980s rural Andhra Pradesh. After the lukewarm response to Game Changer, fans see Peddi as a strong comeback for Ram Charan. In the teaser released earlier, Charan swings a cricket bat in a rugged village setting, hinting at the central role sports will play in the film. The story reportedly revolves around two rival gangs and combines action with intense emotional depth.
Star-Studded Cast and Crew Raise Expectations
Alongside Ram Charan and Shivaraj Kumar, the film features Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead in her first on-screen pairing with Charan. Divyendu Sharma, famous for Mirzapur, plays the main antagonist, while Jagapathi Babu also appears in a key role. Mythri Movie Makers, in collaboration with Vriddhi Cinemas and Sukumar Writings, are producing the film on a grand scale.
A.R. Rahman, the Oscar-winning composer, is scoring the music, while renowned cinematographer R. Rathnavelu handles the visuals. National Award-winning editor Navin Nooli takes care of the editing. Reports suggest that the makers are filming a massive action scene on a specially designed set involving a moving train, adding a thrilling scale to the production.
Release Date and Digital Streaming Plans
The makers have locked March 27, 2026, as the theatrical release date for Peddi, aligning it with Ram Charan’s birthday. The film will release in Telugu along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Netflix has already acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights, ensuring a wide global audience after its theatrical run.
