Shivaji’s Comments on Heroines’ Dressing Spark Debate

Senior actor Shivaji, who witnessed a resurgence in popularity after his stint on Bigg Boss and later earned praise for his negative role in Court, is currently juggling multiple projects. One of his upcoming films, Dandora, in which he plays a key role, is scheduled for release on the 25th of this month.

At the film’s pre-release event held on Monday night, Shivaji’s remarks about the dressing sense of heroines stirred considerable controversy. Speaking from the stage, he shared his views on glamour and attire, advising actresses not to “cross limits” in the name of fashion.

Shivaji began by appreciating anchor Prashanthi for attending the event in a saree, complimenting her grace and elegance. Expanding on the topic, he stated that true beauty lies not in revealing outfits but in dignity and poise. According to him, well-covered and traditional attire enhances an actress’s charm more than clothes that expose the body.

He further remarked that while people may outwardly smile when actresses wear such outfits, many silently question why they choose revealing attire when they could appear more graceful in decent clothing. Shivaji clarified that such opinions are often misinterpreted as being against women’s freedom, stressing that this was not his intention.

Emphasizing the importance of dignity, Shivaji said that a woman symbolizes nature itself and that respect grows with modesty. Recalling his mother, he described her as a lasting image of strength and grace in his life. He added that even today, many women carry themselves with elegance and self-respect.

The actor also mentioned several actresses who made a strong impact while maintaining a balance between glamour and grace. While he acknowledged that glamour has its place, Shivaji stressed that it should remain within certain limits. He concluded by pointing out that women dressed in sarees have also achieved major successes on international beauty platforms, highlighting the enduring appeal of traditional elegance.
