Shivaji Responds to Actress Dressing Controversy, Issues Public Apology

Actor Shivaji recently found himself at the centre of controversy following his comments on actresses’ dressing, made during the pre-release event of his upcoming film Dhandoraa. His remarks triggered strong backlash, particularly from women within the film fraternity, and sparked widespread debate across social media platforms.

Acknowledging the criticism, Shivaji promptly issued a public apology. Sharing a video message online, he wrote, “I sincerely apologise for my words during the Dhandoraa pre-release event last night.”

In the video, Shivaji clarified that his comments were intended in good spirit but were expressed poorly. He admitted to using inappropriate language and accepted responsibility for the misunderstanding caused. Emphasising his respect for women, the actor stated that he never intended to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

While the controversy drew mixed reactions, a section of the audience felt Shivaji’s intent was influenced by recent incidents where actresses Samantha and Niddhi Agerwal faced uncomfortable and mob-like situations. However, many also opined that the actor could have conveyed his views more thoughtfully, clearly stating that it was his personal opinion and choosing more measured words.

Earlier, Shivaji had remarked that a woman’s beauty lies in grace and dignity rather than revealing attire, suggesting that traditional or modest clothing better reflects true elegance. Although his perspective found some support, critics felt the delivery lacked sensitivity, leading to the backlash.
