Director S Shankar now gears up to bounce back after the disappointing run of Game Changer. At a recent public event, he confidently spoke about his next ambitious film, Velpari, calling it his “dream film” and declaring that it would completely transform his career.
Velpari Will Deliver a Global-Level Visual Experience
While attending an event that celebrated the sale of one lakh copies of the historical novel Velpari, Shankar expressed his deep connection with the story. He shared that he once considered Enthiran (Robo) his biggest dream project, but Velpari has now taken that spot. He firmly believes this film will take Indian cinema to a global stage, just like Game of Thrones and Avatar did in the West.
Shankar plans to make Velpari on a massive scale. He aims to design world-class costumes, visuals, sets, and production design for the film. He emphasized how he would use the latest technology and cutting-edge visual effects to ensure global appeal. He pointed out that people often mention Chandralekha as the benchmark for grandeur in Tamil cinema, but he believes Velpari will surpass that level.
Rajinikanth Praises Shankar’s Vision for Velpari
Superstar Rajinikanth, who also attended the event, praised Shankar’s creative journey. He recalled how Shankar revolutionized Tamil cinema in the 1990s with his unique vision and bold storytelling. Rajinikanth wished him great success for Velpari and called it a project that Shankar urgently needed to restore his status after recent struggles.
Velpari Brings Tamil Legend to Life
Shankar’s Velpari draws its story from the popular Tamil novel Veera Yuga Nayagan Vel Pari, written by Su Venkatesan. The story follows the fearless King Vel Paari, who stood against the powerful Chera, Chola, and Pandya dynasties. The tale offers a rich blend of history, courage, and cultural pride, which makes it perfect for a grand cinematic treatment.
Shankar Eyes Redemption After Game Changer and Indian 2
Shankar faced major setbacks with Game Changer starring Ram Charan and Indian 2 featuring Kamal Haasan. Both movies failed to meet audience and critic expectations. However, Shankar now focuses on Velpari to reclaim his legacy as one of India’s top filmmakers. He has already started pre-production work, and fans eagerly wait to watch how he brings this powerful historic tale to life with global quality.
