Revanth Reddy’s Hot Comments on Gods Stir Controversy; BJP Fires Back

By TeluguFunda / December 3, 2025

A new trend seems to be gaining traction in public discourse – the sentiment that any remark made about Hindu deities will not be tolerated. At the same time, the number of people commenting on Hindu gods is also on the rise. While some may do it for popularity, questions arise when such remarks come from someone holding the powerful position of Chief Minister. Whether it is a strategic move or personal belief remains unclear, but Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has once again sparked debate with his latest comments on gods, delivered in his trademark style.

His remarks have triggered a wide range of reactions from netizens and have gone viral across social media platforms.

What Revanth Said

Speaking at a Congress meeting, Revanth Reddy said:

“There are three crore gods in our culture. Some gods like Hanuman are bachelors, while others have two wives. If you keep going, there are village deities like Ellamma and Pochamma. There is a god for those who want to sacrifice a rooster and a god for those who simply want to have a bowl of rice.”

He continued with a smile, saying that in the Indian religious system, there exists a deity for every belief, habit and preference.

Comparing Congress to the Diversity of Gods

Revanth used this framework to draw a comparison to his party:

“Just as there is a god for every belief, the Congress Party is a party that works for everyone. It brings together people with all kinds of mindsets and backgrounds,” he said.

He didn’t stop there. Revanth added that even on matters related to gods, people never agree unanimously.

“One person worships Venkateswara, another prays to Hanuman, someone else takes Ayyappa Deeksha, and another observes Shiva Mala. When there is no consensus even regarding gods, how can we expect complete agreement among political leaders?” he asked.

His comments appeared aimed either at energizing the Congress cadre, drawing political parallels, or highlighting the lack of unanimity in society.

BJP Hits Back

Unsurprisingly, the BJP reacted sharply. Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay strongly condemned Revanth Reddy’s statements.

He urged the Hindu community to express their anger against the Congress for making such remarks about Hindu gods and questioned how long such comments should be tolerated.

Bandi Sanjay criticized the tone and nature of Revanth’s comments, warning that the Hindu community would not take them lightly.

What Next?

Whether Revanth Reddy made these comments casually or with political intent is unclear, but the remarks have undoubtedly given the BJP fresh ammunition. How far this controversy will go remains to be seen, but for now, it has added more fuel to the ongoing political tussle in Telangana.
