Red Fort Was the Original Target on Republic Day: Shocking Revelations Emerge

By TeluguFunda / November 12, 2025

The recent car bomb explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday night has sent shockwaves across the nation. As investigation agencies dig deeper, startling details are emerging about a larger terror plot that had been in the works for nearly a year.

According to sources from the Jammu & Kashmir Police and national investigative agencies, the Red Fort had been under terrorist surveillance for months. Shockingly, the accused have revealed that the original plan was to carry out a massive explosion on January 26, Republic Day, when top national leaders and dignitaries would be present at the Red Fort for official celebrations.

Republic Day Attack Plan

During interrogation, the arrested accused reportedly confessed that they had planned the attack almost ten months ago, with the goal of executing it on Republic Day 2024. They had conducted multiple recces of the Red Fort area in the first week of January to study the security arrangements.

One of the key accused, Dr. Muzammil Gani, told investigators that he had personally carried out reconnaissance along with another suspect, Dr. Umar Mohammad. Data recovered from Muzammil’s mobile phone confirmed these visits, providing crucial evidence of their movements and planning.

Diwali Was the Second Target

Investigators also discovered that the group had another plan in place to strike on October 20, during Diwali celebrations. The idea was to detonate bombs at crowded public areas in Delhi to cause maximum casualties. However, the plan was reportedly dropped due to logistical issues.

The suspects were later apprehended in Faridabad, Haryana, by anti-terrorism officials. From them, authorities seized a staggering 360 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, a chemical commonly used in explosives. Within hours of their arrest, the explosion near Red Fort took place, killing at least 12 people.

Accidental or Intentional Blast?

Initial investigations suggest that Dr. Umar Nabi, who died in the Delhi explosion, may have carried out the blast in panic. Sources believe that after learning about the arrests of his associates in Faridabad earlier that morning, he might have decided to trigger the bomb prematurely.

However, another theory suggests that the explosion might have been accidental. Investigators suspect that the terrorists were attempting to transport explosives from Faridabad to another location when improper handling led to the blast.

The Foiled Conspiracy

Authorities now believe that the November 10 blast was not part of the planned major attack but rather an unintended detonation that exposed a much larger network. Evidence recovered from the suspects points to strong links between the Delhi group and handlers based in Pakistan, indicating that the plan had international backing.

While the explosion caused significant damage and loss of life, officials say it may have inadvertently foiled a massive terror plot intended for Republic Day celebrations. The investigation is now focused on tracing the deeper connections behind this network and identifying every link both within India and abroad.

The latest developments make it clear that the Red Fort attack was not a spontaneous act but part of a long-term, carefully coordinated plan. The probe continues, with investigators determined to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and ensure that such threats are neutralized before they can strike again.
