Kids and Children deserve sufficient love from their parents, if not and if ignored they choose their own path depending upon the situation only to receive love and appreciation from their parents. Director Sandeep Vanga chose this very sensitive point of Bad Parenting for his film Animal but has chosen a very violent approach for the output to showcase his point.  — Telugu Funda

The much-anticipated film, “Animal,” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featuring powerhouse performances from Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, hit the screens today. As the audience eagerly awaited the cinematic experience, the film promised an intense narrative with a Punjabi setting. Let’s delve into the review of “Animal” to see if it lives up to the expectations.

Plot:

“Animal” revolves around the character of Ranvijay Singh (Ranbir Kapoor) in a Punjabi setting. Ranvijay’s love for his father, Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor), is profound, but his father’s preoccupation with business strains their relationship. The narrative takes a dark turn when Balbir Singh is shot, triggering a transformation in Ranvijay. Driven by revenge, Ranvijay becomes an untamed force, impacting not only his quest for vengeance but also his family relationships.

Performances:

Ranbir Kapoor delivers an exceptional performance, showcasing his versatility and intensity. From portraying emotions in various life stages to action sequences, his on-screen presence is formidable. Anil Kapoor, a seasoned actor, shines in his role as Ranbir’s father, with special moments in the climax. Ranbir’s characterization was developed from the scene where he defends his elder sister against her seniors ragging in college

While Rashmika Mandanna’s portrayal is emotional, subtle sometimes and even dominating Rabir Kapoor sometimes as a frustrated wife and concerned mother. She definitely might have taken some acting classes before the shoot of the film.

Bobby Deol, though highlighted in trailers, doesn’t carry the same impact in the film. The supporting cast, including Prem Chopra and Shakti Kapoor, delivers commendable performances.

“Animal” explores the intricate dynamics of a son’s extreme actions fueled by a sense of neglect from his father. Sandeep Reddy Vanga presents this theme in a dark, intense manner, incorporating a level of violence that might be challenging for family audiences. The film’s narrative, although holding attention with intense drama, grapples with a slow pace in the second half. The predictability of the story and scenes that don’t entirely justify the protagonist’s behavior pose challenges.

The last twenty minutes before the interval stand out for their intense mass action for the acting prowess of Ranbir as action hero, providing a unique cinematic experience.

Anil Kapoor delivered a subtle performance as an irresponsible father towards his children.

The kid who acted in Childhood part of Ranbir deserves a special praise as he sets the tone of the character of Ranbir within the very short screen time he had.

Technical Aspects:

The film’s length stands out as a significant drawback, particularly in the second half, where the pacing falters. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s insistence on a lengthy runtime hampers the overall impact. The Background Score (BGM) is solid, complementing the well-choreographed action sequences. Technical elements like cinematography, production design, and songs contribute positively to the film’s visual appeal. However, the excessive violence and bold scenes could have been toned down for wider audience acceptance.

“Animal” is a gripping drama with an intense narrative, powerhouse performances, and a formidable star cast. While Ranbir Kapoor emerges as the new mass sensation and Sandeep Reddy Vanga reaffirms his directorial prowess, the film may not cater to everyone’s taste due to its dark theme, narrative style, and intense action. Ranbir Kapoor’s stellar performance and Vanga’s storytelling make “Animal” a unique experience, but viewers need patience to appreciate its intricate narrative. The film’s only flaw lies in its painfully long length, making it a test of endurance for the audience.

Telugu Funda Verdict:

“Animal” is a lengthy yet gripping drama that offers a different cinematic experience for those willing to embrace its dark themes and narrative style. The pain of this story can be only understood by Father and Son.

Recommended only for Men due to the concept and violence existing in the movie.
