Actor Rana Daggubati appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Hyderabad today, August 11, for questioning in the high-profile betting apps scam. The ED is probing celebrities who promoted unregulated online betting platforms and is investigating possible money laundering under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Officials say Rana will answer questions about his connection with a betting brand, including how much remuneration and commission he received. Investigators will match his statements with evidence they already hold and with testimonies from other people questioned in the case.
ED’s Wider Investigation on Betting Apps
The ED has summoned 29 people, including actors, social media influencers, and YouTubers, in connection with this scam. Investigators are focusing on platforms such as Jungle Rummy, Jeet Win, and Lotus 365. They believe promoters may have worked together to bypass India’s gambling laws, often presenting the apps as entertainment or charity-linked activities.
Actor Prakash Raj answered questions for six hours on July 30, while Vijay Deverakonda spent four hours in questioning on August 6. Rana had agreed to appear last month but requested more time due to personal reasons. Manchu Lakshmi will face ED questioning on August 13.

Even as the investigation continues, Rana is busy with multiple projects as both an actor and a producer.
As an actor, he stars in Kaantha, alongside Dulquer Salmaan, set in 1950s Madras and currently in post-production for a 2025 release. His other works include Jai Hanuman in pre-production, Rakshasa Raja currently in production, and Baahubali: The Epic, a two-part combined film releasing on October 31, 2025.
