Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga was recently at the IIFA Awards ceremony. On the occasion, collecting his Award for ‘Animal’, the filmmaker credited Ram Gopal Varma’s films for teaching him something specific.
The ‘Kabir Singh’ and ‘Arjun Reddy’ maker said that, although he never got to work with RGV, he learned the art of Editing by watching his movies.
In other words, Vanga considers RGV his Editing ‘guru’, although Varma himself is not an acclaimed Editor.
In an interview a few weeks ago, RGV lauded Sandeep Reddy Vanga for proving the perception that bigger budgets are the only way ahead for big stars. “If you look at Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Brahmastra’ or ‘Shamshera’, ‘Animal’ was the cheapest of the three in terms of production. He is one of the biggest names in the industry, and the film did better than the so-called big production value films. So there are no hard and fast rules (with respect to budgets),” RGV was quoted as saying.
