Ram Charan Passed Upasana’s Sweet Love Test in Hyderabad’s Old City

Tollywood star Ram Charan and entrepreneur Upasana Kamineni Konidela recently shared a heartwarming memory from their dating days. In a fresh interview on Sunday Brunch with Curly Tales, Upasana revealed a playful “love test” she gave Ram before their 2012 wedding, and explained how he passed it without hesitation.

The Famous Ice Cream Challenge

Upasana, who serves as vice-chairperson of Apollo Hospitals, once told Ram, “If you really love me, take me to Famous Ice Cream in Hyderabad’s Old City.” The shop sits in the middle of a busy market, and by that time, Ram had already earned massive stardom. She knew the place would attract a huge crowd, and for a celebrity, it meant facing fans, cameras, and no security shield.

Ram agreed instantly and drove her there. They ordered ice cream and enjoyed it in the car. Soon, fans recognized him, and people started knocking on their car doors. Instead of showing annoyance or rushing away, Ram stayed calm and focused entirely on her. Upasana smiled as she recalled, “It was the true test of his love, and he passed with flying colours.”

From Friendship to Forever

Their story started far from a movie-style romance. Upasana explained that they spent two years as friends before realizing they made a perfect match. “It wasn’t filmy. We didn’t have sparks at first, we lived in reality,” she said. The couple met in school, built their bond over time, and eventually transformed their friendship into love.

They got engaged in 2011 and celebrated their wedding in a grand Hyderabad ceremony in 2012. In June 2023, they welcomed their daughter, Klin Kaara.

Life Beyond Films

Alongside her role at Apollo Hospitals, Upasana runs Athamma’s Kitchen, which offers organic and healthy food products. She often shares glimpses of their family life, such as enjoying dosas with her father-in-law, megastar Chiranjeevi. The family follows a lifestyle centered on health and balanced living.

Ram Charan’s Next Big Release

Ram Charan currently works on Peddi, a Telugu sports action drama directed by Buchi Babu. The film stars Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Divyendu Sharma, and Jagapathi Babu, with music by A.R. Rahman. Producer Venkata Satish Kilaru plans to release the movie in cinemas on 27 March 2026.
