Rajamouli’s Varanasi Creates History with Teaser Screening at Paris’ Le Grand Rex

Ace filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli’s ambitious next venture, Varanasi, continues to make headlines even before going on floors in full swing. Reportedly made on a staggering budget exceeding ₹1300 crore, the film stars Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role, with global icon Priyanka Chopra as the female lead.

In a historic first for Indian cinema, the announcement teaser of Varanasi is set to be screened at the iconic Le Grand Rex theatre in Paris. The special showcase is scheduled for 9 PM on January 5, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the film’s global promotional journey.

The development was officially confirmed by Aanna Films, a French distributor of Indian movies. The teaser will be presented on the massive screen in a high-quality cinematic format, promising a grand visual experience for international audiences.

Rajamouli is leaving no stone unturned to position Varanasi as a global spectacle. With nearly eight more months of shooting remaining, the makers are targeting a theatrical release in March 2027.

Adding to the film’s star power, Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen in the antagonist’s role. The project is produced by K. L. Narayana under the Sri Durga Arts banner, in association with S. S. Karthikeya’s Showing Business. Oscar-winning composer M. M. Keeravani is handling the music, while the story and screenplay are penned by veteran writer Vijayendra Prasad.

Varanasi is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious and globally celebrated Indian films ever made.
