Prabhas Friendship Unchanged, Says Sridevi Vijayakumar Ahead of Her Comeback Film Sundarakanda

Actress Sridevi Vijayakumar is returning to the big screen after a long break, and she shared warm memories about her friendship with Prabhas, her first co-star as a lead heroine. Speaking at a press meet for her upcoming Telugu film Sundarakanda, Sridevi revealed that Prabhas has grown into a pan-Indian superstar, yet he remains the same person she knew during their first film together.

Sridevi on Prabhas: A Bond That Hasn’t Changed

Sridevi recalled that she starred opposite Prabhas in his debut film Eeswar, directed by Jayanth C Paranjee. Although she started acting as a child artist, she marked her first role as a leading lady in Eeswar. She said, “My friendship with Prabhas is still the same. He has become a huge star, but he hasn’t changed one bit.”

She explained that Prabhas still speaks and smiles with the same innocence of a child, and that quality makes him special. She remembered how, even during the days of Eeswar, the entire film unit believed he was destined for great success. “When we went on a success tour, huge crowds turned up. We already believed he would become a superstar. But today, he has gone far beyond our expectations. It feels like a blessing,” she added.

Her Comeback with Sundarakanda

Sridevi now steps back into cinema with director Venkatesh Nimmalapudi’s film Sundarakanda, where Nara Rohit plays the lead role. She plays one of the two heroines, with Vriti Vaghani as the other. Producers Santosh Chinnapolla, Gautham Reddy, and Rakesh Mahankali are bringing out the film under the Sandeep Picture Palace (SPP) banner.

Expressing her excitement, Sridevi said, “I feel very happy to be back. Every actor wants to play a strong and meaningful character, and I got that chance here. As an audience, I enjoyed the film myself. It has fresh content and amazing output. I believe everyone will enjoy it in theatres.”

Release Date

The makers will release Sundarakanda in theatres on August 27. With Sridevi Vijayakumar’s comeback and her heartfelt words about Prabhas, the film has already created strong buzz before its release.
