Powerpet Revived: Nithiin Out, Sundeep Kishan In as Lead Hero, Big Update Inside

Nithiin’s shelved political action film “Powerpet” finally makes a comeback with a new lead, a fresh production house, and a revised single-film plan.

The long-delayed Telugu film Powerpet, which originally featured actor Nithiin, now returns stronger with Sundeep Kishan stepping in as the new lead. Director Krishna Chaitanya initially planned the film as a multi-part political action drama under People Media Factory. However, the team faced several hurdles and eventually put the film on hold without public explanation.

Sundeep Kishan Replaces Nithiin in Powerpet Revival

The makers gave Powerpet a fresh direction after shelving the earlier version. Nithiin walked away from the project after noticing similarities with Maha Samudram and requesting script changes. He also dealt with creative clashes and struggled to coordinate with co-star Keerthy Suresh’s schedule. The COVID-19 pandemic further disrupted their timelines.

Now, director Krishna Chaitanya completely redesigned the project. He dropped the original trilogy idea and chose to create a single, standalone film. The team brought in Sundeep Kishan as the lead and adjusted the script to match his on-screen style. Sundeep, who recently impressed audiences with Ooru Peru Bhairavakona and notable roles in The Family Man and Captain Miller, adds new energy to the project.

New Producers Inject Fresh Energy

Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy of 70mm Entertainments, known for hits like Bhale Manchi Roju and Sridevi Soda Center, stepped in to produce the revamped film. The team already completed most of the pre-production work. They plan to hold a grand launch event on August 9, 2025, in Hyderabad, and will officially announce the film shortly after.
