Tamil superstar Vijay’s much-awaited final film as an actor, Jana Nayagan, is officially set to hit theaters on July 23. The release date was confirmed by Vijay through his official social media handles, with the makers also making the announcement.
The film was initially slated for a January 9, 2026 release but was postponed due to legal complications and delays in the censor certification process. After recently receiving an A certificate from the censor board, the team has now finalized July 23 as the theatrical release date.
Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan is the official remake of the Telugu blockbuster Bhagavanth Kesari, which starred Nandamuri Balakrishna. The film stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead, while Mamitha Baiju plays a key role. The movie will also release in Telugu under the title Jana Nayakudu.
The film holds special significance as it marks Vijay’s farewell to acting before his full-time political career. Following his successful entry into politics with his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, Vijay is now serving as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, making Jana Nayagan one of the most anticipated releases of the year among both cinema lovers and his political supporters.
