Director Sai Rajesh said that the song ‘O Rendu Prema Meghaalila’ from ‘Baby’ didn’t do well at the beginning. “I was so confident that it would clock 100 million views just like that. But the viewership stopped at just 1.5 million. I couldn’t figure out what worked against such a beautiful song. People told me the chorus by kids was the undoing. Some others told me the song was too lengthy (more than five minutes long) for contemporary tastes,” Sai Rajesh said.
The director added, “My producer might think bad because I am outing a secret. And this might become a controversy, too. Here is what we did to propel the song. We did paid stunts until the viewership reached 5 million. From then on, the song’s growth was unstoppable (and organic). It eventually reached the 100M mark,” the director said. On Sony Music South, the song has reached 107M views as of now.
