Telugu actor Nithiin is making a bold move with his next film, Yellamma, which follows a profit sharing model. After the recent failure of Thammudu, both Nithiin and producer Dil Raju decided to change their approach and start fresh with this new project. In a surprising and gutsy decision, Nithiin chose not to take any upfront salary for Yellamma. Instead, he will earn only when the film makes a profit.
Venu Yeldandi’s Yellamma Follows Thammudu’s Failure
Director Venu Sreeram helmed Thammudu, while Dil Raju produced it on a massive budget of over Rs 40 crore. They expected the film to revive Nithiin’s career. But despite decent buzz from the trailer, the audience rejected it due to poor storytelling. Within two days, theatres pulled the film from most screens because of low footfalls. Amazon Prime Video will stream the film in the last week of July 2025.
Rather than dwelling on the failure, Nithiin shifted his focus to Yellamma, a love story rooted in Telangana culture. Director Venu Yeldandi, who earlier delivered the award-winning Balagam, will lead the project. He often called Yellamma his dream project and already finished the script and pre-production work.
Yellamma Moves Ahead with a Strict Budget and Quick Schedule
The team has decided to make Yellamma on a strict budget, unlike Thammudu. They have created a tight production schedule and plan to complete filming in just four months. The shoot will begin in September 2025, and the makers plan to release the film in early 2026.
Sri Venkateswara Creations will produce the film. Music composers Ajay-Atul, known for their Bollywood hits, will score the soundtrack. The team is considering Keerthy Suresh for the female lead, although they haven’t made an official announcement yet.
Nithiin’s No-Salary Decision Becomes Industry Buzz
Nithiin’s decision to skip his paycheck and rely only on profits has sparked strong interest across the film industry. His bold move shows his faith in the story and the director’s vision. It also reflects a more grounded approach after a streak of flops.
This time, Nithiin will step into a rural role with no commercial gimmicks, no mass fights, item songs, or exaggerated heroism. The film will focus on pure emotions and realistic storytelling, much like Balagam. His choice to embrace a de-glamourized role is building positive buzz and hope for a solid comeback.
The team will announce more details about the cast and crew soon. Stay tuned for further updates on Yellamma, which is turning out to be one of the most promising projects in Nithiin’s career.
