Little Hearts completed just four days in theatres and already created a phenomenal global run. The film grossed around Rs 12 crore in its opening weekend and cleared the Monday test with ease.
The team feels thrilled with the response, and the praise from stars doubled their joy. Producer Shobu Yarlagadda and S. S. Karthikeya praised the movie earlier, and now Nani has joined them.
Nani posted on X, “What a breezy fun film Little Hearts is. Laughed heartfully after a long time. Akhil, Madhu, Khatyayani (not sure about the spelling), you all made my day. I won’t say I love you but for now I will just say, ‘Thank you’.”
His words put the team on cloud nine. Hero Mouli, heroine Shivani Nagaram, and director Sai Marthand expressed their gratitude and thanked him warmly.
Tourist Family director Abhishan Jeevinth also appreciated the film. He wrote, “Watched Little Hearts. A cute, fun-filled film that’s perfect to enjoy with your friends and family!”
Compliments keep pouring in, and the crew continues to relish the moment. Despite its small budget, Little Hearts earned extraordinary love and success. The film’s collections continue to rise. Aditya Hasan produced the film, and Sinjith Yarramalli composed the music, making the project a surprise winner.
A Nostalgic Campus Story
Telugu cinema often celebrates campus tales, from Ram Gopal Varma’s Shiva to Sekhar Kammula’s Happy Days. Debut director Sai Marthand continued that legacy with Little Hearts, not to set trends but to revive simpler times.
The rom-com takes viewers to the “Before Jio Era” (2015-2018), a period before smartphones and fast internet changed student life. By rooting its story in that time, the film gives millennials a nostalgia trip filled with humour, youthful exaggeration, and heartfelt emotions.
The story follows Nalli Akhil Kumar (Mouli), a mediocre student whose father (Rajiv Kanakala) forces him into engineering despite his poor EAMCET rank. At a coaching centre, he meets Khatyayani (Shivani Nagaram), a fellow struggler from the BiPC stream. Their romance blossoms but takes a twist that challenges Akhil to balance love, parental pressure, and his own choices.
Director Thanks Nani and Abhishan
Director Sai Marthand responded to Nani’s praise, writing, “THANK YOU so much, Nani Anna. Few years back you came with Ashta Chamma on 5th Sept. Coming on the same date is so special to us.”
He also replied to Abhishan Jeevinth’s post: “Bro! Big fan of Tourist Family. I wondered if I could ever create even half the impact it made. Your words mean a lot. Even I did a cameo in the climax.”
