Producer Naga Vamsi has finally spoken about the financial fallout he faced with War 2, the big-ticket action entertainer starring Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan.
Vamsi revealed that he had acquired the theatrical rights of the film for a massive ₹68 crore plus GST. However, despite the huge expectations surrounding the project, War 2 could generate only about ₹40 crore as theatrical share, leading to substantial losses for him.
Opening up about the setback, Naga Vamsi said that he later met the War 2 team at Yash Raj Films and discussed the situation in detail. Acknowledging the losses incurred, the production house reportedly refunded ₹18 crore to him.
His candid remarks have now triggered fresh discussions within the film industry about soaring acquisition prices, increasing financial risks, and the mounting pressure distributors face when high-budget films fail to meet expectations at the box office.
