The family presented him with the book Akkineni Ka Virat Vyaktitva, written by Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad. This book is a tribute to the late legendary Telugu actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) and his contributions to Indian cinema.
After the meeting, Nagarjuna shared a heartfelt post on social media. He expressed gratitude to PM Modi for recognizing his fatherโs cinematic legacy. He also highlighted the honor of presenting the book and thanked the Prime Minister for his appreciation of ANRโs lifeโs work.
PM Modi Pays Tribute to ANRโs Contribution
During the meeting, PM Modi acknowledged ANRโs immense impact on Indian cinema and his philanthropic efforts. He praised ANRโs role in shaping Telugu cinema and noted how he helped relocate the industry from Chennai to Hyderabad, a decision that played a key role in its growth. The Prime Minister also recognized ANRโs contributions to education and literature, mentioning institutions like Annapurna Studios and ANR College in Gudivada.
Modi recalled ANRโs mention in the 117th episode of โMann Ki Baatโ, where he spoke about the actorโs influence alongside legends like Raj Kapoor and Tapan Sinha. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving Indiaโs cinematic heritage.
World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) Announced
In the meeting, Modi announced that India will host the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) this year. This global event will celebrate Indian cinemaโs international influence and honor its legendary contributors.
Nagarjuna Expresses Gratitude
Nagarjuna later tweeted about how PM Modiโs words deeply moved him. He appreciated the recognition given to Annapurna Studios and Annapurna College of Film and Media, both of which have trained aspiring filmmakers for decades.

A photo from the meeting showed the Akkineni family in elegant attire. Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya wore classic dark bandhgalas, while Sobhita looked graceful in a cream saree with a golden border. Amala looked beautiful in a pink saree.
