Sudigaali Sudheer made another attempt to stabilize his position as lead actor in TFI with Calling Sahasra Movie with a different concept with SIM card. Lets find out how Sudheer entertained the audience with his new flick.
Plot:
Ajay Srivatsav (Sudheer), a software developer dealing with the grief of losing his elder sister, strives to empower women through a distinctive app. Concurrently, he sets out on a quest to locate Sara (Spandana Palli), an enigmatic pen pal. The storyline takes a romantic twist when Swati (Dollysha) enters his life, leading Ajay and Swathi to share living quarters with their mutual friend Sathya. After relocating from Bangalore to Hyderabad, Ajay obtains a new sim card, triggering an inexplicable connection with Sahasra through his phone, now transformed into a supernatural conduit. Meanwhile, the city faces terror orchestrated by the anonymous group Lucifer, operating through the Red Rooms app, kidnapping and subjecting victims to gruesome torture. Is there a link between Lucifer and the lives of our lead characters?
Analysis:
While incorporating mystery, crime, and a touch of the supernatural, the screenplay lacks finesse in blending these elements for an engaging experience. The initial part captivates with emerging characters and intrigue, but issues with continuity and rationality arise as the plot unfolds. Despite some interesting twists, the film falters, with a conclusion that, though action-packed, feels outdated and dull. A major drawback is its slow-paced narrative, making the viewing experience somewhat tedious. Additionally, the inclusion of elements like torture, violence, and gore may not be suitable for all audiences.
Performance:
Sudigali Sudheer, known for his television presence, displayed his versatility as a lead actor in “Calling Sahasra” following his impactful role in “Gallodu.” Departing from his usual comedic roles, Sudheer delivered a compelling performance portraying a subdued and melancholic character.
Siva Balaji, in the role of Shiva, played his part commendably well.
Dollysha as Swathi, Spandana Palli as Sara, and others did a decent job
Technical Aspects:
The background score by Mark K Robin, music by Mohith Rahmaniac, cinematography by D Shashi Kiran, action by Shivaraj, and editing by Garry Bh contribute to the film’s technical aspects, with decent production values.
Telugu Funda Verdict:
Director Arun Vikkirala’s two-and-a-half-hour film is okay in delivering a captivating narrative, leaving the audience wanting more from its promising premise.
