Minister Komatireddy’s Sharp Attack on Pawan Kalyan
The debate around “Telangana sentiment” has once again taken center stage in the state’s political arena. Telangana Minister for Cinematography, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, launched a scathing attack on Jana Sena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, questioning his relevance and political standing in Telangana.

Referring to Pawan Kalyan’s past controversial remarks about Telangana, the minister asserted that the Jana Sena leader has no political space in the state.

Komatireddy Reopens Old Wounds

Komatireddy strongly criticized comments made by Pawan Kalyan during a previous visit to Konaseema. He reminded the public of Pawan’s remarks suggesting that Konaseema suffered hardships due to the “evil eye” of people from Telangana.

“Telangana people have not forgotten those statements. Claiming that people from Telangana were jealous after seeing the greenery of the Godavari districts deeply hurt the sentiments of our people,” Komatireddy said. He warned that anyone who spreads hatred or makes derogatory remarks against Telangana would not find acceptance in the state.

“No BJP Shop Left, Where Is Space for Jana Sena?”

Taking a dig at the proposed BJP–Jana Sena alliance ahead of upcoming elections in Telangana, the minister used sarcasm to question their prospects.

“There isn’t even a BJP ‘shop’ left open in Telangana. The party itself is struggling to survive here. In such a situation, what can Pawan Kalyan achieve?” he asked. Komatireddy further remarked that it would be better for Pawan Kalyan to visit Telangana only as a devotee, offer prayers at Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple, and return, rather than attempting politics in the state.

Warning Over Film Screenings

Komatireddy also recalled his earlier warning that Pawan Kalyan should apologize to the people of Telangana for his remarks. Failing that, he cautioned, there could be repercussions for the screening of Pawan’s films in the state.

Speaking in his capacity as the Cinematography Minister, he stated that hurting public sentiments could lead to protests outside theatres, reiterating that such consequences would be unavoidable.

Political Heat Intensifies

Reacting strongly to Komatireddy’s comments, Jana Sena leaders accused him of distorting Pawan Kalyan’s statements for political gain. They argued that Pawan’s remarks were aimed at highlighting farmers’ struggles and were being deliberately misinterpreted.

With municipal elections approaching, the political confrontation between Congress and Jana Sena has begun to heat up, adding fresh intensity to Telangana’s already charged political atmosphere.
