Rumors had flooded social media, claiming that the legendary director would soon collaborate with actor Naveen Polishetty and actress Rukmini Vasanth on a romantic drama. However, Mani Ratnam clearly denied these claims and confirmed that the information is false.

During a recent interview, the director reacted with surprise and said, “Not at all. Even that is news to me. I have no clue what they are talking about.” He also clarified that he is currently “working on a couple of scripts” but hasn’t finalized any of them. With this clarification, he made it clear that he hasn’t confirmed any film with Naveen Polishetty.

He will headline the long-awaited romantic comedy ‘Anaganaga Oka Raju’, which director Maari leads with Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead. The team has officially locked in a Sankranthi release date, January 14, 2026.
