In a significant breakthrough against digital piracy, Hyderabad Police recently arrested Ibomma chief Immadi Ravi, the key operator behind one of the most notorious piracy websites leaking newly released theatre and OTT films. His actions have caused considerable damage to the film industry, impacting revenues and the hard work of countless cinema professionals.

Following this major arrest, a Tollywood delegation met Hyderabad City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar to express their appreciation and discuss the gravity of the issue. Veteran actors Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, director SS Rajamouli, and producer and TFDC chairman Dil Raju attended the meeting held on Monday.

The delegation congratulated the police for their swift and effective action, and urged the Commissioner to take strict measures against those responsible for orchestrating such large-scale piracy operations. They emphasized the need for strong enforcement to safeguard the industry from further damage.

Chiranjeevi condemned the act of profiting from others’ creative efforts, calling it a “cheap and harmful practice” that must be met with serious consequences. He lauded Hyderabad Police for their commitment in tackling this menace. Rajamouli’s father also highlighted cybercrime as a real and growing threat, warning that it impacts thousands if not lakhs of livelihoods. He urged the public to remain vigilant about online risks.

Commissioner Sajjanar revealed alarming details from the investigation. Immadi Ravi was found in possession of sensitive data belonging to over 50 lakh individuals, showcasing the enormous scale at which cybercrime can operate. Authorities also seized a hard disk containing more than 21,000 pirated films, underscoring the extent of the piracy network.

The Tollywood fraternity expressed hope that this arrest would serve as a strong deterrent and pave the way for more robust measures against digital piracy.
