The animated epic Mahavatar Narasimha is rewriting box office rules. Even after running for 21 days, the film refuses to slow down and proves that God truly proves bigger than superstars. Despite the arrival of two massive pan-India releases, War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan and Coolie starring Rajinikanth, this devotional spectacle continues to pull huge crowds.
Strong Box Office Performance on Day 21
Trade reports confirm that Mahavatar Narasimha earned Rs 188.14 crore net in India across all languages in three weeks. With GST, the gross collection reached Rs 222 crore. Overseas markets contributed another Rs 17 crore gross, pushing the worldwide total to Rs 239 crore. On Day 21, the Hindi version brought in Rs 2 crore, while Day 20 fetched Rs 3.17 crore. The Hindi version alone has already crossed Rs 141.36 crore net, a remarkable achievement for an animated movie.
The film has already crossed the lifetime earnings of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy and now stands just Rs 11 crore short of a major global milestone.
Audience Preference Over Star Films
The negative talk around War 2 and the mixed response for Coolie boosted Narasimha’s performance. In Andhra Pradesh, audiences chose Narasimha because superstar films carried higher ticket rates. In Telangana, the movie lost a few screens, but the shows that remain continue to run housefull, and audiences book tickets several days in advance.
On BookMyShow, audiences buy 10,000 to 15,000 tickets every hour. Exhibitors in several centers increased Narasimha’s shows on weekends and reduced screenings of new star-driven films to meet the demand.
The Road Ahead for Narasimha
If the momentum continues, Mahavatar Narasimha will easily cross another Rs 100 crore in the coming weeks. With no major releases lined up until the end of the month and with speculation that Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara may face a delay, the film enjoys a clear run to dominate further.
The success has already changed industry thinking. One production house, which earlier planned a fantasy drama with a star hero, has now decided to make a fully animated feature instead. Narasimha’s success has shifted perceptions and opened new opportunities for Indian animation.
