The animation film Mahavatar Narasimha, directed by Ashwin Kumar, is making waves across India. Based on a Hindu epic, the film blends deep historical storytelling with advanced animation technology. Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government praised the movie for its cultural significance.

Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture, met Ashwin Kumar and Saurabh, Director of India Think Council, to discuss the film’s story, spiritual values, and technical achievements. He described the project as a unique and commendable effort to honour deities and inspire youth while preserving timeless values.

Director’s Reaction to Massive Success
Ashwin Kumar expressed his excitement over the film’s performance. He said the film’s Rs 100 crore earnings in the first week overwhelmed him and went beyond his expectations. He credited India’s diversity of faith and the emotional connection it sparked in audiences for the film’s success. “The subject is powerful, and people’s faith has turned it into a roaring success,” he said. He added that he feels eager to see how far it will go.

Strong Box Office Performance in Third Week
Mahavatar Narasimha continues to deliver strong results in its third week. According to Sacnilk’s early estimates, the film earned Rs 4.50 crore (all languages) on its 20th day, pushing its India net total to Rs 185.50 crore. In 19 days, the film collected Rs 181 crore. The movie opened at Rs 1.75 crore and peaked at Rs 23.5 crore on its third Sunday, showing strong weekend growth. Collections dropped slightly on Monday and Tuesday, but they stayed steady enough to prove that the film has a loyal audience base.

The Hindi version brought in the largest share of earnings, followed by Telugu. Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam versions also contributed smaller shares. In the Telugu market, the 3D version achieved 16.32% occupancy on day 20, with night shows leading at 22.08%. The 2D version reached 14.33% occupancy and continued to attract consistent evening and night audiences.

Next Milestone and Upcoming Challenges
The film now aims to cross the Rs 200 crore mark. However, upcoming releases like Coolie and War 2 on August 14 may challenge its momentum. Even with competition ahead, Mahavatar Narasimha stands as one of the biggest animated successes in Indian cinema, driven by its cultural depth, strong storytelling, and nationwide appeal.
