Director Dr. Anil Vishwanath proved his mettle as a talented director with the film ‘Ma Oori Polimera’ on OTT. His latest film ‘Ma Oori Polimera-2’ is its sequel. ‘Ma Oori Polimera-2’, produced by Shree Krishna Creations and presented by Gowr Ghana Babu, is a rare thriller and an even more stunning sequel to be made in Telugu. Starring Satyam Rajesh and Dr. Kamakshi Bhaskarla in lead roles, the film also features Getup Srinu, Rakendu Mouli, Baladitya, Sahitya Dasari, and Ravi Varma play different roles in it. The November 3rd release is coming out in theatres amid much hype.
In this interview, actor Satyam Rajesh talks about his character and the film’s biggest strengths. “This movie has been released by Vamsi Nandipati. The producer of this movie Gowr Kriesna has made the movie without any compromise. But with the release of this movie by Vamsi Nandipati, the movie has got wings. Vamsi is promoting this movie in a big way,” he says.
Excerpts:
Q. Are you feeling the pressure ahead of the film’s release?
A. Not at all. Audiences who have seen the first part are eagerly waiting for our movie. That way, we already have a set of audience. We are therefore confident.
Q. Compared to the first part, will the second part be richer in terms of making values?
A. Even the first part was rich in terms of production values. That film was shot in relatively less number of working days. But before the start of the second part, we thought that we should shoot it in expensive locations without showing budget-related reluctance. That’s the attitude we went ahead with.
Q. Why did you not shoot the second part while doing the first part?
A. The idea was to first gauge the audience’s reaction to the first part. We went ahead with confidence once we were sure that the first part was a rage.
Q. Does your character feel new in the second part?
A. I have always wanted to do new roles right from the beginning of my career. My choices have always conformed to my convictions. I have always been more than ready to do any role that would prove my mettle as an actor. I must say that the ‘Polimera’ movies belong to a rare breed.
Q. Will there be any twists in your character in the second part?
A. Yes, there are definitely twists that will shock you. You will find them surprising.
Q. Can we understand the second part without seeing the first part?
A. The director wrote the story without complications. If you watch Part 1, you will enjoy the second part even more. Even if you haven’t seen it, you will like Part 2. We have a recap segment at the beginning of the second part so that those who have not seen Part 1 can understand the plot thoroughly.
Q. Were you nervous while making this film?
A. I was scared while doing Part 1. In the forest, I was afraid of shooting for the witchcraft scenes, especially in the graveyard, that too at night. The film was shot in real locations. In these movies, I appear nude as per the demand of the scenes. This was a rare opportunity for me to go all in.
Q. Is there any reference to the character you played in these films?
A. We wouldn’t come across people who practice black magic in real life. I learned about black magic while doing this film.
Q. What is your take on your film receiving A certificate?
A. The certificate we received was expected. Our movie has got terrifying scenes that give goosebumps.
Q. Are you going to be seen in ‘Polimera 3’?
A. Since it is the same story, I know I will be in the third part as well.
Q. Will you continue as a hero?
A. I am not a hero but only an artist. My ambition is to be known as a good actor. I will do lead roles in films that come with small concepts.
Q. How is your 20-year career?
A. Nothing big has been achieved. It has been 20 years since I opened my eyes. I continue to aspire to do different roles and feel fresh in my own eyes. There are no hard and fast rules.
Q. What movies are you doing currently?
A. I think I will take some gap after this movie. ‘Polimera 2’ is a big thing in my life. I don’t know if this opportunity will ever come again. I am doing big roles in ‘Geetanjali’, one of Balakrishna’s movies and in ‘Matka’. I am playing a lead role in a movie called ‘Tenant’.
