Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra Box Office Collection – Dulquer Salmaan Opens Up on Budget and Future Plans

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra continues to dominate the box office and win over audiences. The superhero film, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, has turned into one of Mollywood’s biggest successes of 2025. In just seven days, the film collected Rs 46 crore in India and is now racing toward the Rs 50 crore mark. Globally, it has already crossed the Rs 100 crore gross milestone, making it a blockbuster.

Dulquer Salmaan Talks About Lokah’s Budget

The makers recently held a grand success meet in Hyderabad, attended by Kalyani Priyadarshan, director Dominic Arun, hero Naslen, and producer Dulquer Salmaan. Speaking at the event, Dulquer revealed that Lokah was made on a budget of nearly Rs 40 crore, a figure similar to his earlier films King of Kotha and Kurup.

“This is not a small-budget film for us. Every rupee we spent shows on the screen. We made sure not to waste even a single penny,” Dulquer said, highlighting the film’s scale and quality.

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra Box Office Performance

The film opened to a strong start and maintained momentum throughout its first week. On Day 7 (September 3, 2025), it earned Rs 6.75 crore net in India, keeping the buzz alive. Malayalam audiences have driven most of its success with a 48.49% occupancy, while Telugu shows reported 19.35% occupancy on the same day.

With its current pace, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra will comfortably enter the Rs 50 crore club domestically in the coming days.

Controversy Over Dialogue

Despite its success, the film faced backlash over a dialogue that offended some Kannada viewers. The production house issued an apology, assuring that the line would be removed or edited. They stated that they prioritize people over everything and regretted hurting anyone’s sentiments.

Lokah’s Storyline and What’s Next

The film follows Chandra, a mysterious yakshi (vampire) played by Kalyani, who travels from Sweden to Bengaluru for a mission. She is summoned by Moothon, the leader of a superhero group voiced by Mammootty. Her neighbor Sunny (Naslen) falls in love with her but gets caught in a dangerous situation. Meanwhile, cop Nachiyappa (Sandy) is determined to stop Chandra.

Fans are now eagerly waiting for director Dominic Arun to announce Lokah Chapter 2. Given its roaring success, the next installment in the Lokah universe could be even bigger.
