Legendary Actor Mohanlal Loses His Mother Santhakumari

Santhakumari, the mother of legendary Malayalam actor Mohanlal, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 90. She had been suffering from prolonged illness and paralysis and breathed her last at her residence in Kochi, where she was under specialised medical care.

The wife of late government official Viswanathan Nair, Santhakumari was known to be a pillar of strength behind Mohanlal’s illustrious career. Though she stayed away from the public eye, her influence and support played a significant role in shaping the actor’s journey in cinema.

Mohanlal often expressed deep gratitude towards his mother and had recently shared his prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award moment with her, a memory that now stands as one of their final public moments together.

Members of the film fraternity have been expressing their condolences, while the family including Mohanlal, his wife Suchitra, and children Pranav and Vismaya are making arrangements for her last rites in Thiruvananthapuram.
