The Malayalam blockbuster Officer on Duty, starring Kunchacko Boban, is set to release in Telugu on March 7. The action-packed investigative thriller, which hit Malayalam screens on February 20, has received overwhelming praise from both critics and audiences. Now, with high demand for its dubbed versions, the film is expanding to new territories.
A Gripping Investigative Thriller
Officer on Duty follows Circle Inspector Harishankar, played by Kunchacko Boban, who takes up a seemingly minor case involving fake gold chains. However, his investigation soon uncovers a deep web of organized crime, drug trafficking, and psychopathic killers. The film also explores his personal struggles, adding emotional depth to the intense action.
The movie has been directed by Jithu Ashraf and written by Shahi Kabir, who is known for crafting hard-hitting investigative thrillers. It features a talented cast, including Priyamani as the protagonist’s wife, Jagadish as a KSRTC bus conductor, and Vishak Nair in a key role.
Big Release in Telugu States
The Telugu distribution rights have been acquired by E4 Entertainment, while Mythri Movie Distributors will ensure a wide theatrical release in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The movie’s Tamil-dubbed version is also in the pipeline and is expected to release later in March.
Blockbuster in Malayalam, Ready to Impress in Telugu
Shot with stunning visuals by Roby Varghese Raj, the cinematographer of Kannur Squad, and featuring a gripping background score by Jakes Bejoy, Officer on Duty delivers a high-octane cinematic experience. Chaman Chakko, the film’s editor, ensures a fast-paced and engaging narrative.
Following its massive success in Kerala, where it became a box-office hit, expectations are high for its Telugu version. The film follows the trend of Malayalam thrillers gaining popularity across different languages, similar to the recent Tamil and Telugu success of Marco.
OTT Release Also on the Way
In addition to its theatrical run, Officer on Duty is set to premiere on Netflix. While the exact OTT release date is yet to be confirmed, reports suggest it could be available for streaming in March 2025.
