Tollywood’s latest blockbuster Kuberaa has stormed theatres across India, drawing massive crowds like no recent film. Director Sekhar Kammula brought together Dhanush and Nagarjuna, creating huge excitement among Tamil and Telugu audiences. On Day 1, the film earned a whopping Rs 13 crore, reviving full-house energy in cinemas. But Nagarjuna’s bold statement during the Hyderabad success meet has sparked fresh discussions.

At the event, Nagarjuna, who plays a CBI officer named Deepak, said, “I’ve felt like I’m the hero in the story. The whole story revolves around Deepak’s character.” He explained that his character has multiple layers, filled with moral struggles and emotional turns. He added that the role gave him strong performance scope. Even Sekhar Kammula, while narrating the script, told him, “This is Deepak’s film.”

Kuberaa continues to dominate in Telugu states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and fans have packed theatres from the start. Hyderabad’s night shows reached 88% occupancy, and the film looks set to cross ₹40 crore by the weekend. Overseas audiences have responded strongly too. In the US, the film already nears the million-dollar mark within just two days.

Nagarjuna’s comment ignited a range of reactions online. While many fans celebrated his character’s importance, others, especially Dhanush’s fans and a section of Akkineni supporters, criticized it. They believe Dhanush leads the film and earns the most praise. Some questioned Nagarjuna’s choice to play a character who gets beaten and insulted on screen, asking, “Why did he accept such a role?”
