Kiccha Sudeep’s Sci-Fi Film Billa Ranga Baashaa Begins Shoot in Futuristic Setting of 2209 AD

Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep has officially started shooting his most ambitious film yet – Billa Ranga Baashaa (BRB), a sci-fi action-adventure set in the year 2209 AD. After facing multiple delays, the film finally went on floors on April 16, 2025, kicking off what promises to become a massive cinematic experience. Sudeep posted a striking poster on his social media and captioned it: “2209 AD – BRBFirstBlood. The journey begins today.”

BRB: The First Blood – A Visionary Sci-Fi Adventure

Director Anup Bhandari, known for Rangitaranga and Vikrant Rona, leads the project. Although he and Sudeep originally planned BRB as their first collaboration, they chose to delay it due to its enormous scale and intense pre-production needs. They later teamed up on Vikrant Rona, which turned out to be a major success.

Producers K. Niranjan Reddy and Chaithanya Reddy from PrimeShow Entertainment joined hands with Sudeep’s Kiccha Creations to bring BRB to life. PrimeShow previously delivered the Telugu superhero blockbuster HanuMan, and now aims to elevate Kannada sci-fi with this new venture.

A Futuristic World, Created from Scratch

The story unfolds in a distant future — the year 2209 AD. To match this vision, the makers started constructing custom-designed sets. The team leased 4 acres of land on the outskirts of Bengaluru and began building a unique sci-fi world. They plan to film continuously for 20 to 25 days inside these massive 3D environments.

The crew will shoot the film in both 2D and 3D formats, targeting a multi-lingual theatrical release. The filmmakers designed the movie with heavy use of visual effects and futuristic aesthetics to offer viewers a never-seen-before experience.

First Look Poster: Rugged, Real, and Raw

The poster shows Kiccha Sudeep in a rugged look with snow in his beard, bruises on his face, and mountain-climbing gear. His reflective goggles display a fiery explosion, reinforcing the intense tone of the story. The tagline, “First Blood,” hints at a survival-driven plot set in a harsh world.

Release Timeline and Expectations

Although the makers haven’t shared an exact release date, they aim to bring the film to theatres by summer 2026. Given its scale and ambition, Billa Ranga Baashaa could become the most defining film in Sudeep’s career.

Fans eagerly await this sci-fi epic, especially to see the powerful collaboration between Sudeep and Anup Bhandari once again. With grand visuals, thrilling action, and futuristic storytelling, BRB promises to set new standards for Indian cinema.
