Tamil star Karthi has officially started dubbing for his upcoming spy thriller ‘Sardar 2’, directed by PS Mithran. This marks a major production milestone for the sequel, which has been eagerly awaited since the success of ‘Sardar’ (2022). The film is now in the post-production phase, with the rest of the cast set to join the dubbing sessions soon.
A Sequel Packed with Action and Espionage
‘Sardar 2’ promises to deliver another gripping spy drama, following up on the intense narrative of the first film. In ‘Sardar’, Karthi played dual roles, an undercover RAW agent and his son, a police officer determined to restore his father’s honor. The sequel will take the story forward, with the son now becoming a spy for the Indian government, embarking on a mission that takes him to Cambodia.
Star-Studded Cast and Production Team
Alongside Karthi, the film features SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, Rajisha Vijayan, and Babu Antony in pivotal roles. Rajisha Vijayan, who played a crucial part in the first film, is returning for the sequel, though her role remains undisclosed.
The movie is produced by S. Lakshman Kumar under the Prince Pictures banner, with Venkat AV Media co-producing. The technical team of the film includes Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music composer, George C. Williams handling cinematography, and Ruben in charge of editing. Stunt choreography is led by Dhilip Subbarayan, while K. Kadhir takes care of art direction. The story is crafted by M. R. Pon Parthipan, Roju Bipin Ragu, and Geevee.
A Big-Budget Sequel with High Expectations
‘Sardar 2’ is reported to be the most expensive film of Karthi’s career, promising grand visuals, intense action sequences, and an engaging storyline. The original film, ‘Sardar’, was both a critical and commercial success, praised for its gripping plot and strong performances. Its social message on water conservation also struck a chord with audiences.
Following its blockbuster success, producer Lakshman gifted director PS Mithran a Toyota Fortuner as a token of appreciation. With ‘Sardar 2’ aiming to surpass its predecessor, fans are eagerly awaiting the official release date, which is expected to be announced soon. If all goes as planned, the film could hit theaters during Diwali 2025.
