India Post unveiled a special cover and two picture postcards to celebrate Kantara: Chapter 1 and Karnataka’s traditional ritual, Bootha Kola. This release comes ahead of the highly anticipated prequel, which explores the origins of the folk tradition depicted in the original film, Kantara: The Legend. The tribute honors Karnataka’s cultural heritage and acknowledges the massive impact the film has created across India.
India Post Celebrates Karnataka’s Folk Tradition
The Karnataka Postal Circle, in collaboration with Hombale Films, released the commemorative cover and postcards. These special editions highlight the vibrant ritual of Bootha Kola, a devotional folk performance combining tradition, storytelling, and local culture.
India Post shared images of the presentation, showing director Rishab Shetty and producer Vijay Kiragandur receiving the first copies. On Instagram, India Post wrote, “India Post celebrates the spirit of Karnataka through a Special Cover and two Picture Postcards on Bootha Kola, a vibrant ritual where devotion, folklore, and tradition unite.”
Rishab Shetty Reflects on the Journey
At the launch event, Rishab Shetty, who acted, wrote, and directed the film, shared his personal reflections. He revealed the emotional and creative effort he invested in completing both films over five years. “I am tired and finding it difficult to gather words to describe this journey.
Usually, I am composed and mentally strong,” he said. With his usual humor, he added, “I am somebody who doesn’t burden myself by worrying about my movie’s result.” His dedication makes the prequel one of the most awaited releases this year.
Kantara: Chapter 1 – A Grand Cinematic Experience
The prequel promises a larger-than-life experience, featuring elaborate sequences including a massive war segment with 500 trained fighters and 3,000 participants. The team filmed these scenes over 50 days on a specially constructed 25-acre set, showcasing the scale and ambition of the project. Scheduled for a worldwide release on October 2, the film will release in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and English, allowing audiences across India and beyond to experience the story.
A Cultural Tribute With Global Reach
By issuing these special postal covers and postcards, India Post honors Rishab Shetty’s cinematic achievement while drawing attention to Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage. The gesture introduces Bootha Kola, a centuries-old tradition, to new generations and celebrates the global success of Kantara. Fans and cultural enthusiasts can now connect tangibly with the film’s folklore and the stories that continue to inspire audiences worldwide.
