Kannappa is not just a myth, it’s our history. Actor-producer Vishnu Manchu boldly declared this ahead of the release of his dream project Kannappa, which hits theatres on June 27. Director Mukesh Kumar Singh leads the film, while Dr. M. Mohan Babu produces it under AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory. The team has already created a huge buzz with the film’s trailer, teaser, and songs.
During a press meet in Hyderabad, Vishnu revealed that audiences had already bought over one lakh tickets even before the film’s release. He credited this strong response to Lord Shiva’s blessings. Vishnu said, “Earlier, many people didn’t expect this much positivity around Kannappa. That wasn’t their mistake. But now, the film carries full positive energy.”
A Family Journey and Devotional Message
Vishnu designed Kannappa as a film for families and children. He kept ticket prices normal across most regions, with small increases only in a few Andhra Pradesh theatres. He proudly shared that all four of his children acted in the film. “As a father, I feel emotional when I watch them on screen. Whether they become artists in the future or not, being part of this story means a lot,” he said.
Vishnu praised the team for working hard throughout the project. He thanked his father Mohan Babu and brothers Vijay and Vinay, who handled the finances and helped the process run smoothly. Vishnu assured viewers that the film respects all beliefs. He added, “Kannappa delivers a simple message, true devotion is enough. You don’t need any intermediaries between you and God.”
No Early OTT Release: Theatrical Experience Comes First
Vishnu made it clear that Kannappa will stay exclusive to theatres for 10 weeks before it appears on any OTT platform. The team also scheduled a rare 2 AM screening in Karnataka and planned a wide release in Kerala to reach more audiences.
What the Team Says About Kannappa
Director Mukesh Kumar Singh explained how the story follows a man who once didn’t believe in God but later became one of Lord Shiva’s greatest devotees. Cinematographer Sheldon Chau said the climax will move the audience to tears with its emotional intensity. Actor Siva Balaji, who shot scenes in New Zealand, described the location as one of the most beautiful on Earth and praised the film as “visually stunning and emotionally powerful.” Actor Kaushal added, “After 50 years, Kannappa returns to the big screen as a visual wonder for today’s generation.”
