'Kalki 2898 AD': Excessive focus on Bujji is biting the film

The promotions surrounding ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ may have been misguided. Ever since director Nag Ashwin proudly introduced the futuristic sci-fi vehicle Bujji, the promotions have been on a downward spiral. It would have been good had the makers stopped their focus on Bujji with the release of the Bujji X Bhairava video. But that didn’t happen.

Social media is full of memes where we see movie buffs ridiculing Nag Ashwin’s alleged obsession with Bujji. One of the memes has been drawn from a comedy scene involving Ali, where he is seen animatedly describing “Bujji” as the ultimate.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is arriving at the cinemas on June 27. At least now, the focus must shift to something more exciting. While the first song, released recently, was good, it has not been enough to build hype.

Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has music by Santhosh Narayanan.
