Kalki 2 Update: Nag Ashwin Confirms Script Progress, Shooting to Begin by Year-End

Director Nag Ashwin, known for his unique storytelling and vision, finally gave a much-awaited update on the sequel to his blockbuster film Kalki 2898 AD. During his recent visit to the Tirumala Tirupati temple, the acclaimed filmmaker confirmed that his team is actively working on the Kalki 2 script and that he plans to start shooting by the end of this year.

He shared this exciting news while speaking to the media after offering special prayers at the temple. Ashwin emphasized that writing the sequel involves a detailed process, especially after the massive success of the first part. He said, “We are not in a hurry. We have almost completed the writing, but we are making key changes to take it to the next level.”

Kalki 2 highlights Karna and Ashwatthama

Nag Ashwin also shared a key creative update. He confirmed that Prabhas’ character Karna will get more screen time in the sequel. He revealed that Kalki 2 will mainly focus on Karna and Ashwatthama, diving deeper into their powerful stories. He promised that fans will experience a more intense and emotional storyline in the second part.

Several rumors had suggested that Prabhas might delay or skip Kalki 2, since he signed multiple projects like Fauji, The Raja Saab, Spirit, and Salaar 2. Some reports even claimed that Nag Ashwin would direct a different film with Alia Bhatt. But Ashwin’s visit to Tirumala cleared all the doubts. He firmly stated that he is focusing fully on Kalki 2, and his team has already started pre-production work.

Kalki 2898 AD, which released in June 2024, created a huge impact at the Indian box office. It grossed over Rs 1,180 crores worldwide and thrilled audiences with its powerful blend of mythology and science fiction.
