Janasena Minister Kandula Durgesh Issues Clarification on Pawan Kalyan’s Konaseema Comments

Janasena MLA and Andhra Pradesh Tourism & Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh has issued a detailed clarification regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s recent comments about the Konaseema region. Several Telangana leaders have been demanding an apology, alleging that his remarks were offensive.

A few days ago, Janasena released an official press note asserting that Pawan Kalyan’s statements were intentionally distorted to create unnecessary political tension. The party maintained that his comments were taken out of context, fueling an avoidable dispute.

Reiterating the same, Kandula Durgesh stated that Pawan Kalyan’s remark was made in a light-hearted manner, referring to a commonly used superstition in rural Telugu culture. He emphasized that the phrase was a traditional proverb and not meant to insult anyone. Durgesh further stressed that Pawan Kalyan has always held deep respect for Telangana and has consistently extended help whenever the state faced natural calamities, however small.

Durgesh also highlighted Pawan Kalyan’s contribution to Telangana through cinema, noting that he has supported several artists from the state. He pointed out that the Janasena Party operates in both Telugu states and urged everyone to put an end to the “needless controversy,” especially when the party has already clarified the context through its press release.

The issue began when, during a recent political tour, Pawan Kalyan humorously remarked that Konaseema’s coconut groves seemed affected by the ‘evil eye’ (dishti) because Telangana leaders often praise the region’s greenery. He also commented that the prosperity of the Godavari districts was one of the factors behind the eventual bifurcation of the Telugu states.

Following the viral spread of these comments, several leaders from the ruling Congress in Telangana criticized Pawan Kalyan and demanded a public apology. Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy even warned of restricting the release of Pawan Kalyan’s films unless he withdrew his statements.

With Kandula Durgesh once again reaffirming Janasena’s stance, all eyes are now on how Telangana leaders will respond in the coming days.
