Karthi and Arvind Swami will be seen as cousins in ‘Sathyam Sundaram’, the Telugu-dubbed version of ‘Meiyazhagan’ (Tamil). The film will arrive at the cinemas on September 28th.
Interacting with the Hyderabad-based media, Karthi says that the film is a moving tale involving two cousins. “Director Prem Kumar, who is known for ’96’, comes from an agricultural family. He grew up in a rural atmosphere and highly values the affectionate nature of villagers. There is a certain warmth about rural life, which we miss in cities. ‘Sathyam Sundaram’ brings out the essence of this reality with doses of humour,” Karthi says, adding that he was moved to tears when he read the script.
The film will be released a day after Jr NTR’s ‘Devara’. “If ‘Devara’ is like a war, our film is soft. It is like a ‘sirimalle chettu’. The conversations are so naturalistic that they never seem cinematic. The chemistry between Arvind Swami sir and I will be loved by the audience. You will go through the experience of watching a K Viswanath movie. If you watch ‘Sathyam Sundaram’ alone or with your friends, next time, you will want to take your parents and grandparents along for the movie for a rewatch,” Karthi says.

The film is produced by Suriya and Jyothika. “When my brother read the script, he asked me how come such beautiful scripts always end up in my lap,” Karthi says.
Also starring Sri Divya, Swathi Konde, and Devadarshini, the film has cinematography by Mahendiran Jayaraju and music by Govind Vasantha. “The music is special because the songs are driven by the emotional core. For the first time ever, Govind Vasantha was challenged by a script. He is a genius,” Karthi says.
