In an effort to contain the fallout from its recent nationwide operational collapse, IndiGo has announced that it will provide ₹10,000 worth of travel vouchers to passengers who were hit the hardest. The airline faced intense public backlash last week after thousands of travellers were left stranded across multiple airports due to extensive flight delays and cancellations.
According to IndiGo, the vouchers will be issued to passengers who experienced the most severe disruptions between December 3 and 5. These vouchers will remain valid for a full year and can be redeemed on any IndiGo flight. The airline added that this gesture is separate from the government-mandated compensation of ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, which varies based on the scheduled duration of the affected flight.
IndiGo acknowledged that many passengers endured long waiting hours at airports as the crisis worsened, though the airline has yet to explain the criteria it will use to identify those considered “severely impacted.”
Meanwhile, IndiGo continues to issue public apologies and is working to restore normal operations as it battles criticism over the recent chaos.
