India’s AI Summit Dispels Fears Over Job Losses

By TeluguFunda / February 20, 2026

Amid growing concerns that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could disrupt millions of jobs, industry leaders at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi struck a reassuring and forward-looking tone. The consensus: AI is not here to replace humanity, but to redefine and enhance it.

Speaking at the summit, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, acknowledged the anxiety surrounding AI-driven job displacement. However, he emphasized that AI will reshape work, ambition, and even human purpose in ways that amplify human strengths rather than diminish them.

Altman noted that qualities such as empathy, emotional intelligence, human connection, and social responsibility cannot be replicated by machines. In fact, he argued, these traits will become even more valuable in an AI-powered world. Drawing a historical comparison, he remarked that today’s jobs might appear “silly” to people living 500 years from now just as many roles from centuries ago seem outdated to us today. Perspective, he suggested, plays a crucial role in how societies view technological change.

He also praised India’s rapid progress in AI development and adoption, highlighting the country’s growing influence in shaping the global AI landscape.

AI’s Economic and Social Promise

Generative AI is projected to add trillions of dollars to the global economy over the next decade, underlining its transformative potential. The summit brought together some of the most influential voices in global technology, including Sundar Pichai of Google, Dario Amodei of Anthropic, Julie Sweet of Accenture, and Shantanu Narayen of Adobe.

Tech investor Vinod Khosla, founder of Sun Microsystems, expressed optimism about India’s enthusiasm for AI. He envisioned a future where AI could enable affordable healthcare and even provide free AI-powered doctors and teachers for all turning what once seemed like science fiction into reality.

Sundar Pichai echoed this optimism, stating that AI has the potential to improve billions of lives and help solve some of the most complex scientific challenges. Shantanu Narayen added that India is well-positioned to become a global leader in AI, given the rapidly expanding user base and innovation ecosystem in the country.

Meanwhile, Dario Amodei stressed the importance of building AI systems that are safe, predictable, and aligned with democratic values. Ensuring control and accountability, he said, will be critical as AI systems grow more powerful.

AI as the Next Infrastructure Revolution

N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, framed AI as a transformative infrastructure shift comparable to the advent of steam engines, electricity, and the internet. He emphasized that the true measure of AI’s success will lie in its accessibility. The technology must reach the “last person,” he said, ensuring inclusive growth and widespread societal impact.

As the summit concluded, one message stood out clearly: while AI may redefine industries and careers, its greatest strength lies in empowering human potential rather than replacing it.
