India’s New Film Capital, Telangana Government’s Big Cinema

In a major move to reshape the future of Indian cinema, the Telangana government plans to develop Hyderabad as the capital of the Indian film industry. This announcement came after Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka led a high-level meeting. He also heads the Ministerial Sub-Committee for film industry development.

The committee ordered officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) that will help transform Hyderabad into a national hub for cinema production and talent.

Government Pushes to Turn Hyderabad into a Full-Fledged Film City

Ministers Komatireddy Venkat ReddyDuddilla Sridhar Babu, and key officials such as FDC Chairman Dil Raju and Home Department Special CS Ravi Gupta joined the meeting. They focused on removing the challenges that filmmakers in Telangana currently face.

Filmmakers often struggle to get multiple permissions for shooting from departments like the police, fire services, and municipal bodies. To resolve this, the Deputy CM directed the Film Development Corporation (FDC) to create a single-window permission system. He also said the FDC must appoint a dedicated officer who can quickly handle all approval processes, ensuring a smooth experience for film producers and directors.

Tourism and Cinema Go Hand in Hand

The Deputy CM stressed the need to allow film shootings at tourist locations across Telangana. This move will attract more filmmakers while promoting tourism. The government wants Hyderabad to become a top choice for both Indian and international film professionals to shoot and launch their projects.

Helping Cine Workers and Regulating Theater Food Costs

The Deputy CM urged officials to involve the RCS Committee that manages Chitrapuri Colony, where many cine workers live. He wants the committee to join the next meeting to discuss the needs of film workers directly.

The government also plans to stop the overpricing of food in cinema canteens. Officials will now track pricing issues and take immediate action to protect moviegoers from high costs.

Telangana Gaddar Film Awards Set for a Grand Launch

The state government will organize the first Telangana Gaddar Film Awards on June 14. The Deputy CM asked organizers to host the event on a grand scale. He also instructed officials to invite big names from Tollywood and other parts of Indian cinema to make the event a national highlight.

The Deputy CM also called for a status report on the 50 acres of land that the FDC received earlier. He wants officials to present a clear update in the next meeting to speed up its development for film industry use.

With all these bold and focused actions, the Telangana government continues to build Hyderabad into India’s next major cinema powerhouse.
