HHVM Box Office Collection Crashes: Pawan Kalyan’s Epic Faces Harsh Reality After Strong Start

By TeluguFunda / July 29, 2025

Pawan Kalyan’s big-budget historical action film Hari Hara Veera Mallu (HHVM) launched with great expectations, but it now struggles at the box office. Despite starting strong and receiving a VFX upgrade, the film continues to lose momentum during weekdays. The makers spent an estimated Rs 250–Rs 300 crore on the production, and now HHVM ranks among the biggest box office disappointments of 2025.

Strong Opening Weekend, But HHVM Collection Drops Sharply

Hari Hara Veera Mallu opened with Rs 12.75 crore on its premiere day and hit a peak with Rs 34.75 crore on its first official release day. However, the collections dropped fast after that. The film earned Rs 8 crore on Day 2. It showed slight improvement on Saturday with Rs 9.15 crore and Rs 10.6 crore on Sunday. But on Monday, it crashed with just Rs 2.32 crore.

In five days, the film brought in Rs 77.57 crore net in India, while it grossed over Rs 102 crore globally. Trade experts now doubt that the movie will reach the Rs 100 crore net mark in India, which raises concerns for a film made on such a massive budget.

Why HHVM Fails to Hold Audience Interest

Audiences entered theatres with high expectations, but the film disappointed many due to mixed reviews and weak word-of-mouth. Viewers praised Pawan Kalyan’s intense performance and action scenes, but critics highlighted issues with the storyline and its pacing. In response, the filmmakers trimmed the movie and cut out several VFX-heavy scenes to improve the experience. Although the re-edited version looked better, it failed to pull more crowds to theatres.

Director A.M. Jyothi Krishna addressed the situation and directly criticised misleading box office reports, asking people to question the accuracy of some online figures.

Will HHVM Part 2 Still Happen?

The team originally planned Hari Hara Veera Mallu as a two-part film. Pawan Kalyan revealed that they already shot a few scenes for Part 2. However, the severe losses from Part 1 now cast doubt on the sequel’s future. The decision to continue depends entirely on whether Part 1 picks up traction in the coming weeks.
